Year End Preparation in Sage 100 Contractor

Article by: Lindsay Cameron, Sage 100 Contractor Consultant

Year end is fast approaching, so let’s get prepared!

Close & Archive 2022 Payroll

In Sage 100 Contractor, payroll must be closed and archived prior to entering any new payroll records that will be dated in 2023.

When payroll closes, all prior year details are archived and then removed from your current company so that employee records in the new calendar year will begin with zero balances.

From the payroll archive that we create, all 4th quarter reporting and W-2’s printing will be processed through Aatrix. You have the option to e-file or print and mail your documents as necessary.

*Please note, if you plan to e-file through Aatrix, confirm that you have an account set up with them in advance.  This ensures that there will not be any processing delays in using the program.

Along with the archiving and closing process, new tax table updates and new release updates (if not previously installed) will be installed to ensure your software is utilizing the most current information available.

Update Payroll Calculations for 2023

Make sure to update any payroll calculations that are changing for 2023 affecting:

  1. The Employee
  2. The Employer (i.e. insurance rates, FICA, SUTA, etc.).

Run a Payroll Audit

If you haven’t been auditing your payroll records, now is the time to begin.

In menu 5-3-7 run a Payroll Audit. If you have any audit errors, print the audit report and review the details.

Order Your Tax Forms

As a reminder, order your tax forms early!

You can order directly when logged into your Sage 100 Contractor software:

  1. Go to Home
  2. Resources
  3. ‘Order Checks and Forms’
  4. Select Sage 100 Contractor
  5. Place your order!

If you haven’t already, please contact us to schedule year end consulting. Thank you!
