Payroll Implementation Specialist

Job Status:   Full-Time, Regular 

FLSA Status: Exempt

Currently, Sockeye is seeking a Payroll Implementation Specialist for a 100% Remote role. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering and supporting payroll solutions for our clients with Sage Intacct. This may include Sage Intacct Payroll for Construction, powered by Penta; Sage Intacct Payroll, powered by ADP; or assisting our clients with integrations offered by other selected payroll providers. The Payroll Implementation Specialist works well independently or on a team and believes in delivering exceptional solutions to improve the customer experience. This candidate will be expected to communicate effectively, openly, and timely with team members, management, and clients. The successful candidate must possess an in-depth knowledge of payroll accounting entries and how they affect the general ledger.

Essential Functions:

  • Solid understanding and demonstrated experience supporting and implementing payroll systems

Technical Functions:

  • Guide new clients through implementation process: requirements gathering, configuration, testing, training, and loading historical information in payroll platform
  • Build and maintain project plans for payroll implementations and work with project lead to coordinate resourcing on individual project tasks
  • Conduct training for customer end-users at all levels of the customer organization and relate system functionality to customer business requirements
  • Lead/Manage workload on multiple payroll implementation projects simultaneously through the first payroll period to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Review and reconcile payrolls prior to transmission to client, validating confirmed reports
  • Maintain a high rate of client retention through quality service and with excellent communication skills (by phone and email)
  • Support ongoing payroll questions or issues, offering solutions with timely responses
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, macros, etc.) for efficient data mapping, integration, and migration of customer data
  • Ability to easily identify outliers in reviewing financial data
  • Utilize and regularly contribute to team knowledge repository for best practices and lessons learned in form of knowledge base article (4 contributions annually)
  • Maintain working knowledge of 3rd party payroll applications to support integrations as a technical resource
  • Assist with building and presenting payroll sales demos

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or greater in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience required
  • Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws is required
  • Construction payroll processing/reporting experience is strongly preferred
